Lesson 1: Basic Concepts in Risk Communication

By the end of Lesson 1, you will understand the basic concepts, definitions, and framework used in risk communication. You will also understand how risk communication relates to the other components of risk analysis (risk assessment, risk management, and uncertainty). In addition, by the end of Lesson 1, you will be able to identify which obligations and principles of the SPS Agreement are relevant to risk communication. You will also learn which IPPC international standards discuss risk communication. To accomplish these last points, you will be required to review the material covered in previous modules.
